Zachry Wade Carroll, who worked as an Air Force contractor, was taken into custody in Comal County following an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons announced the arrest details.
According to an indictment detailed by the U.S. Attorney Office for the Western District of Texas, Carroll allegedly lost a classified national defense document in April 2025. Investigators said that he failed to promptly report the missing sensitive material to a superior officer.

Investigators added that Carroll also possessed a loaded 9mm handgun with 20 rounds of ammunition and three magazines inside his vehicle. When asked by personnel if he was armed on base, Carroll denied carrying the unauthorized .380 pistol.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mark Roomberg and Kirk Mangels are prosecuting the case for the government. If convicted on all charges, Carroll faces a maximum sentence of up to 17 years in federal prison under federal guidelines.
