AI Disclaimer
NewMedia San Antonio uses artificial intelligence to help report the news. This page explains where, and what we do to keep it accurate.
Stories
Many of our daily stories are drafted by an AI model from public sources: news reports, official feeds and press releases about San Antonio. Every story lists the sources it is based on at the end. Drafts are checked automatically before they are published: a draft is rejected when it cites no source, states figures its sources don't contain, or repeats a story we already ran. Our editors can review, correct or remove any story.
Summaries, questions and quizzes
The TL;DR box, the reader questions, the quiz and the highlighted quote under a story are written by AI from that story alone, and checked against it. The highlighted quote is always words that appear in the story as written.
Audio
The “Listen” player reads the story in a synthetic voice. It is not a recording of a person.
What AI doesn't do
AI doesn't decide what is advertising: sponsored stories, ads and press releases are always labelled as such. Press releases are published as issued by the company and aren't written or verified by us.
Mistakes
AI can get things wrong, and so can people. If you spot an error, please tell us and we will correct it. See also our editorial standards.
